Welcome to Youth Ministry at Queen of Apostles. We are excited to get this program up and running again. The Young Church isn't the "Church of tomorrow" or "tomorrow's leaders in the Church," but rather a vibrant part of today's Church that is capable of embracing the Love of Christ in a way we haven't seen before. We want to help the Young Church embrace this love by allowing you to explore your faith in ways you may not get to otherwise and have fun while doing it. Once we have more to share with you about all the things we have coming down the pipeline, we will gladly share them with you. As for now, know you are in our prayers and that you have a home here at Queen of Apostles.
The life and mission of St. John Baptist de la Salle are underscored by one idea, that everyone deserves an education and to have an opportunity. This 16th-century French Priest came from riches and the elites of the French aristocracy. He was eventually asked to become the head of a school meant to educate poor boys. To help support the schools, De La Salle invited the poor teachers into his home, something that subjected both his family and himself to scandal. In an effort to focus all his energy on the school, he would resign from his high-level church position, a move that found considerable amounts of wealth falling into his lap, yet this too would be sold and given to the poor. These selfless acts would eventually face the wrath of elites in France, both in the general public and the Church. He would finally vow to beg for food and live on bread alone to preserve the teaching order he founded. While De La Salle died in 1719, his religious order, the Brothers of the Christian Schools, still lives on today with schools and colleges worldwide.
We ask for the intersession of St. John Baptist de la Salle to help open the minds and hearts of the young people to the message and teachings of Christ.
